With the whole of South Africa in Essence Mode, you may be asking yourself, what is this EssenceFestDBN hashtag that you’re seeing everywhere? How is it that Essence is being advertised on TV as SA’s biggest festival in 2016? And why are all these International Artists descending on Durban shores?

Well the Essence Festival originated in New Orleans, and for the first time ever is leaving the United States to be hosted in South Africa. With a large focus on empowering women, local musicians, fitness and a healthy lifestyle, the Essence Festival caters to a wide range of people, who are looking to attend and event that is both educational and fun.

This festival is one of the biggest events hosted in Southern Africa this year, with a MASS of international, visitors, speakers and attendees expected in the coming week.

The Mayoral event was well presented with welcome cocktails, and light snacks served during the event, as well as many interviews and photo opportunities that were encouraged by the Essence organizers.
